Soft-launch version LM-PA-2026-10, published 15 October 2026 for information. Provider applications are not open yet. You will be asked to read and accept this agreement when you apply, and we will tell you before then if it changes. Last updated 15 October 2026.

Service Provider Agreement

Applies to: independent businesses (sole proprietors and companies) that apply to offer services to customers through the Like Magic platform, and their registered team members.
Status: Soft-launch version LM-PA-2026-10: accepted when you apply. Document 2 of 11 in the Like Magic legal set.

In short

  • You are an independent business. You choose which jobs to accept, when you work and how you do the work, and you may work on other platforms and for your own customers.
  • Your contract for each job is with the customer. You are responsible for your work, your team, your tools, your taxes and your trade registrations.
  • Whatever your trade, you must carry public liability insurance that covers your work. Like Magic takes no responsibility for your work or for damage you cause.
  • We check you before you go live, including a criminal record check with your consent, and again when your documents expire. You pay for your own ID and criminal record checks when you apply.
  • We collect the customer's payment as your limited payment collection agent and hold it. It becomes payable to you when the customer releases it in the app, or 7 days after you mark the job as finished if the customer does nothing, less our commission (clauses 9 and 10). We pay out weekly.
  • Declining a job never counts against you. Our standards are published in clause 15, and a person, not a computer, decides any deactivation after hearing your side.
  • Customers you meet through Like Magic must be served through Like Magic for 6 months after your last job with them.

This summary helps you find your way. The numbered clauses below are the actual agreement.

Important terms - please read these before you accept (CPA section 49, where it applies to you)

  • You are an independent business, not our employee, and we do not deduct PAYE or UIF (clause 1).
  • You consent to identity, criminal record and registration checks, including special personal information (clause 4).
  • You pay for your own ID and criminal record checks when you apply, at the vetting vendor's price (clause 9.2).
  • We hold the customer's payment until it is released. We deduct our commission and may hold or set off amounts for disputes, refunds and chargebacks caused by your work (clauses 9, 10 and 13).
  • You must come back as soon as possible and fix defects in your own work under the Workmanship Guarantee, at your own cost. If a customer is refunded because of your defective work, the refund comes out of your payment or payouts (clauses 10 and 13).
  • Whatever your trade, you must hold public liability insurance of at least R1 million that covers your work. Like Magic takes no responsibility for your work or for damage or injury you cause (clauses 12 and 19).
  • We may pause or deactivate your account under the standards and process in clause 15, and immediately for serious matters (clause 15.5).
  • You may not take customers you met through Like Magic off the platform for 6 months, and a fee applies if you do (clause 16).
  • You indemnify us for claims caused by your work, and our liability to you is limited (clause 19).
  • Disputes between you and us go to arbitration (clause 21).

  21. Disputes and general terms

1. Who we are and your status

1.1 This agreement is between Pro Media Mogul (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2014/188632/07, of 108 Workington Road, Greenwood Park, Durban, 4051, which runs the Like Magic Home Services platform ("Like Magic", "we", "us"), and the person or company whose application we approve ("you").

1.2 You are an independent business. Nothing in this agreement makes you our employee, our agent (except that we act as your limited payment collection agent under clause 10), our partner or joint venturer, or a worker placed by a labour broker (temporary employment service).

1.3 You are not entitled to employee benefits from us. We do not deduct PAYE, UIF or skills development levy from your payouts. You are responsible for your own tax, and for UIF and COIDA registration if you employ staff.

1.4 This agreement is meant to describe how our relationship actually works. If anything we do in practice conflicts with your freedoms in clause 2, tell us and we will fix it.

1.5 You accept this agreement by ticking the box in your application. When you tick the box we record the date and time, your IP address, your device and the version of this agreement, and we rely on that record as your signature under section 13 of the ECT Act (clause 10.7). It starts when we approve your application and tell you that you can accept jobs. Questions about applying or about this agreement can go to providers@likemagic.co.za.

1.6 Customers book through our Customer Terms of Use. You must also follow our Community and Safety Guidelines, Quote and Extra-Work Policy and Reviews Policy, which form part of this agreement.

2. Your freedoms as an independent business

2.1 You may decline any job offer, for any reason, without penalty. Declining offers never counts towards the standards in clause 15 and never leads to deactivation.

2.2 You decide your own working hours, days off, availability and service area in the app. There is no minimum number of hours or jobs. Your service area must be within the areas where the platform operates: at launch, Durban and surrounding areas. We add new areas one at a time.

2.3 You decide how to do the work, using your own skill and judgement, within the agreed scope, the law and the safety and record-keeping steps customers rely on (such as photos and the job report).

2.4 You use your own tools, equipment, vehicle and materials.

2.5 You may work on other platforms and for your own customers. You are not exclusive to us. The only restriction concerns customers you meet through Like Magic (clause 16).

2.6 You may send your own staff or subcontractors to do jobs, as long as each person is registered and checked on the platform first and is shown to the customer in the app. You pay them and remain responsible for them. They are not our employees.

2.7 You set your own prices for quotes. Taking fixed-price jobs is optional (clause 5).

2.8 You may use your own business name and branding. For customer safety you must carry your identity document so customers can check who you are.

3. Who can join and what documents you need

3.1 To join and stay on the platform you must:

  1. be 18 or older, and hold a South African ID, or a passport with a valid permit that allows you to do this work;
  2. give us proof of address and a bank confirmation letter for an account in your own name or your company's name;
  3. for a company, give us its CIPC registration and the IDs of its directors;
  4. give us your SARS tax number, and your VAT number if you are registered for VAT (the platform adds VAT to your prices and quotes only if your VAT number is on your vetting record);
  5. hold every trade registration the law requires for each service you offer (clause 3.2);
  6. hold the public liability insurance in clause 12, whatever your trade;
  7. pass the checks in clause 4; and
  8. if you employ anyone, be registered for COIDA and UIF.

3.2 The law requires these registrations for these trades:

TradeWhat the law requires
Plumbing and geysersA qualified plumber (trade test or QCTO qualification) must do or supervise the work, as municipal by-laws require. Only a PIRB licensed plumber may issue a PIRB plumbing certificate of compliance (CoC).
Electrical, including solar, inverters and hard-wired appliancesRegistration as an electrical contractor with the Department of Employment and Labour, renewed every year, and a registered person in charge who issues the electrical CoC. Solar systems also need municipal approval where required.
GasRegistration with SAQCC Gas as an authorised person, and a gas CoC after each installation or repair.
Air-conditioning and refrigerationRegistration with SAQCC Gas as an authorised refrigeration practitioner, and a CoC. New electrical circuits must be done by a registered electrician.
Locksmiths, alarms, CCTV, access control and gate motorsPSIRA registration for you and your business. PSIRA registration is only open to South African citizens and permanent residents. We ask for a PSIRA letter of good standing every 90 days.
Electric fencingRegistration as an electric fence system installer with the Department of Employment and Labour, and an electric fence CoC.
Pest control, including spraying pesticides for payRegistration as a pest control operator under Act 36 of 1947 in the right field.
Roofing, waterproofing and renovationWhere the Housing Consumer Protection Act 25 of 2024 requires NHBRC registration for the work, you must hold it. We tell you when this applies.
Handyperson, painting, tiling, carpentry, cleaning, garden, pool and movingNo licence. You must not do electrical, gas, plumbing or security work unless you hold the registration for it.

3.3 Your documents must be true. You must tell us within 48 hours if any registration, permit or insurance ends, is suspended or changes, or if you are convicted of an offence.

3.4 Our office is alerted 30 days before a document expires and again every 7 days, and we will contact you to ask for the new one. If a document the law requires expires, we pause the services it covers until you upload a valid one. This is a legal compliance step, not a disciplinary one.

3.5 By law, anyone who knowingly or carelessly uses an unregistered security service provider commits an offence, so we cannot allow any security work without valid PSIRA registration.

4. Checks and your consent

4.1 Before you go live, and again as set out below, we check:

  1. your identity against the Department of Home Affairs records, with a selfie and liveness check, through an accredited identity-verification service;
  2. your bank account details;
  3. your criminal record, by fingerprint check through the South African Police Service systems, done by an accredited vetting service;
  4. your trade registrations and insurance, with the issuing bodies where they offer a way to check; and
  5. your references, which we follow up with the people you name.

4.2 Criminal records and biometric information (fingerprints and face images) are special personal information under POPIA. We process them only with your explicit consent, which you give separately in your application. Your consent is voluntary, but we cannot approve you to take jobs without these checks. You can withdraw your consent at any time, but we will then have to deactivate your account.

4.3 We keep only the result of a criminal record check (clear or not clear), its date and the vendor's reference, not the full report. Fingerprints and face images are used only for the check and are not kept by us after the check. How long the vetting service keeps them is set out in its own privacy notice, which we show you before the check.

4.4 Customers see only a badge (for example "ID verified" or "Background checked" with a date). We never show them your check results.

4.5 We repeat the criminal record check every 12 months and check other documents when they expire. You pay for the yearly re-check at the vetting service's price, as you do when you apply; we show you the price before it is run.

4.6 If a check shows a possible problem, a person reviews it and considers whether it is relevant to the work you would do. We tell you what we found and give you 7 days to respond, for example to show that a record is wrong or to explain it. We never reject an application automatically on a check result alone.

4.7 We use check results only for our own decisions about you on this platform. We do not share them with, or check you for, any other business.

4.8 Our Privacy Notice explains in full how we use your personal information.

5. Prices and types of job

5.1 There are three types of job: instant fixed-price jobs, call-out jobs (you visit, inspect and then quote) and quote requests (up to 3 providers quote for the same job).

5.2 Fixed-price jobs are optional. Like Magic sets the fixed prices. Before you opt in to a fixed-price service, the app shows you the fixed price, what it includes and what you will earn after commission. You can opt out of any fixed-price service at any time, for future jobs. Opting out never counts against you.

5.3 For call-out jobs the call-out fee shown to customers is set by Like Magic per trade and shown to you before you opt in to call-out jobs. If the customer accepts your quote within its validity period, the call-out fee is credited against the quote.

5.4 Your quotes must follow the Quote and Extra-Work Policy: a breakdown of labour, materials and call-out, the scope, whether any parts are reconditioned, VAT, and how long the quote is valid (14 days).

5.5 You must not do extra work until the customer has approved a variation quote in the app. We will not collect payment for work the customer did not approve, and the customer does not have to pay for it.

5.6 Where a job includes equipment or parts you supply (such as a geyser, air-conditioner or gate motor), you are the supplier of those goods. Your quote or the job report must list the make, model and any manufacturer's warranty.

6. How jobs are done

6.1 On each job you must:

  1. arrive at the booked time, and tap "On my way" when you set off;
  2. show the customer who you are, as described in clause 2.8;
  3. take photos of the work area before, during and after the job, only of what is needed to show the work;
  4. take reasonable care of the customer's home and belongings;
  5. leave the work area safe and tidy;
  6. offer the customer the parts you removed, unless they decline or the parts must be disposed of safely;
  7. issue any CoC the law requires; and
  8. complete the job report in the app and ask the customer to sign it on your phone.

6.2 You are responsible to the customer for the quality of your work and the goods you supply under the CPA: quality service (section 54), the implied warranty on goods (section 56) and the 3-month warranty on repairs, parts and labour (section 57).

6.3 You must not let anyone who is not registered on the platform do the work.

7. Customers' personal information

7.1 Use customers' personal information (such as their name, address, job details and photos) only to do the job and to meet your legal obligations. Never use it for marketing or share it.

7.2 Keep it secure: lock your phone, do not share screenshots or addresses, and delete customer information from your own devices when you no longer need it for the job, except records you must keep by law (such as tax records or CoCs).

7.3 Tell us within 24 hours if customer information may have been lost, stolen or seen by someone who should not see it.

7.4 For the customer information you receive, you are a separate responsible party under POPIA and must comply with POPIA yourself. You receive it from us only for the job.

7.5 Use the in-app chat and voice notes to contact customers. If you have a customer's phone number, use it only for the job in progress.

8. Location sharing

8.1 The app shares your live location with the customer only from when you tap "On my way" until you arrive. We do not track your location at any other time, and you can see in the app when sharing is on.

8.2 Customers rely on this for safety, so you must use it when travelling to a booked job. We record your position only while a trip runs. We keep those records for the job record and delete them on request, or when we close the job file.

9. Commission and fees

9.1 We deduct our commission from your payout at these rates. Commission is always calculated on the price without VAT. Like Magic is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to our commission.

Type of job or chargeOur commission
Labour on instant fixed-price and call-out jobs15%
Quoted jobs (get quotes)10%, up to a maximum of R1,500 per job
Equipment and parts you supply, on any job5%
Labour for a repeat customer (a customer who has completed an earlier job with you through Like Magic)10%

Commission is worked out when the payment for a job is released, on the amount the customer actually paid for that job before VAT, and is shown on your statement with the rate applied. Where a job is both labour and parts, the parts rate applies only to lines marked as parts in your quote; other lines count as labour. The R1,500 cap on quoted jobs applies to the labour commission only.

9.2 We charge commission only on amounts customers actually pay. There are no joining or lead fees. You pay for your own identity check and fingerprint criminal record check when you apply, at the price that the identity-verification and vetting services charge. We show you the price before the checks are run. The check fees are paid to the vetting service and are not refunded if your application is not approved.

9.3 We give you at least 30 days written notice of any change to our commission or fees. A change never applies to jobs you have already accepted, and you may end this agreement without penalty before the change takes effect.

9.4 If a customer pays a late-cancellation fee, it is paid to you in full.

10. Payments and payouts

10.1 We collect payments from customers as your limited payment collection agent. When a customer pays us, the customer has paid you. You authorise us to receive payment, deduct our commission and any amounts under this agreement, and pay you the balance.

10.2 A job is paid out after the customer releases the payment in the app, or after it is released automatically 7 days after you mark the job as finished with no problem reported, less our commission under clause 9 and any amount under clause 10.4. Until release the money is held by us as your limited payment collection agent and is not yet owed to you. We run payouts weekly, on Fridays, by EFT into your verified bank account, for released amounts of at least R100; smaller amounts carry over to the next run. Every payout comes with a statement that shows each job, what the customer paid, our commission, VAT where it applies and any deduction.

10.2A You can see every job, what the customer paid, our commission, what is due to you and when, which customers you worked for, and every payout statement in the Like Magic Pro app and portal. If you think a statement is wrong, tell us within 30 days of the payout and we will look into it.

10.3 If the customer reports a problem before the payment is released, we hold the payment for that job until we decide. You get 48 hours to give your side in the app. We may release the full amount to you, refund the full amount to the customer, split it, or ask you to return and put the work right first. We tell you our reasons, and we aim to decide within 5 business days of having the information we need. A problem reported within 14 days after a release, a guarantee claim or a chargeback may be set off against your payouts under clause 10.4. Money held for one job never delays the payout of your other released jobs.

10.4 We may set off against your payouts: refunds due to customers for your work, lost chargebacks and any other amount you owe us under this agreement. We tell you in the portal what we set off and why.

10.5 If a customer asks their bank for a chargeback, we will defend it using your job report and photos. If the chargeback succeeds because the work was not done or was defective, we recover the amount from you.

10.6 Bank details. You give us your bank details in the app and confirm them with a one-time code or your password. We check them against the bank letter in your vetting record before we pay anything into the account. A change of bank details takes effect 48 hours after we have checked it, and we tell you by e-mail, in the app and, where you have agreed to WhatsApp messages, by WhatsApp every time your bank details change, so that you can stop a change you did not make. We never ask for your bank details by phone or e-mail, and we are not responsible for a payment made to an account you asked us to use.

10.7 Records. When you accept this agreement, confirm bank details, reply to a customer's report or mark a job as finished, we record the date and time, the IP address and device used, how you were signed in and the version of this agreement, and we seal the record with a cryptographic hash. For every job we also keep the customer's release record and every money entry and payout statement. In your portal you see your own records, and that a payment was released and when; we produce the customer's full release record only in a dispute or where the law requires it. These are electronic records and electronic signatures under section 13 of the ECT Act, we rely on them in any dispute, we keep them for five years and we give you a copy of your own records on request.

10.8 What we are and are not. Like Magic is not a bank. Money we hold for a job is the customer's payment, collected and held by us as your limited payment collection agent. It sits with our payment provider until it is settled to us; we record it separately from our own income and do not use it to run our business. It is not owed to you until it is released, and we pay no interest on it. Once released it is owed to you and is paid out under clause 10.2. If this agreement ends, or we stop operating the platform, released amounts are still paid to you (clause 20.4).

11. Invoices and tax

11.1 Customer invoices are issued in your name, with your VAT number if you are registered. We produce them in the app for you, as your agent. You are responsible for VAT on your services. If you are registered for VAT and your VAT number is on your vetting record, the platform adds VAT to your prices and quotes and shows it to the customer. If not, no VAT is added. Tell us straight away if you register or deregister for VAT.

11.2 Like Magic is not registered for VAT. Your payout statement shows our commission, which carries no VAT.

11.3 You are responsible for your own income tax and provisional tax. You must register for VAT when your taxable turnover goes over the compulsory threshold, which is R2.3 million in any 12 months from 1 April 2026.

12. Insurance

12.1 Whatever your trade, you must hold public liability insurance of at least R1 million per claim that covers your work, including damage to customers' property and injury to people. You must keep it in force for as long as you are on the platform.

12.2 If you employ anyone, you must be registered for COIDA and keep a letter of good standing.

12.3 You must upload proof of insurance every year, and tell us immediately if your cover is cancelled or reduced. If your cover lapses, we pause your account until you upload proof of new cover.

12.4 Like Magic does not insure your work and takes no responsibility for it, or for damage or injury you, your staff or your goods cause. If a customer makes a claim, you must deal with it, refer it to your insurer promptly and tell us the outcome. We may give the customer your business details and the name of your insurer so that they can claim.

13. The workmanship guarantee and your work

13.1 Every job you do through the platform includes your Workmanship Guarantee to the customer: you must fix defects in your own work, free of charge, if the customer reports them within 90 days of completion. You must respond within 48 hours of us telling you about a claim, and come back as soon as possible to fix the defect.

13.2 Like Magic does not pay guarantee claims and does not send another provider at its own cost. If you do not come back as soon as possible and fix a defect, the customer keeps all their rights against you under the CPA, including having a reasonable part of the price refunded. We may pay that refund to the customer from payment we still hold for the job, or by setting it off against your payouts (clause 10.4), and the failure counts towards your standards (clause 15).

13.3 Like Magic runs the claims process: we log the claim, tell you about it, follow it up, keep the records and tell the customer the outcome.

13.4 If you disagree with our decision, you can use the dispute process in clause 21.

14. Cancelling a job you accepted, and no-shows

14.1 Once you accept a job, cancel it only for a good reason, and tell the customer and us in the app as soon as possible.

14.2 If you cancel or do not arrive, the customer gets a full refund. Cancellations and no-shows count towards the reliability standard in clause 15. There is no separate no-show fee at present.

14.3 A genuine emergency (such as illness, a family emergency, a vehicle breakdown or an unsafe situation) that you tell us about promptly does not count against you.

15. Ratings, standards and deactivation

15.1 These are our published standards:

StandardLevelWhat happens
Average customer rating over your last 20 rated jobsAt least 4.5We warn you and offer support below 4.6.
Arriving on time, over your last 20 jobsAt least 90%Warning, then review.
Cancelling jobs after accepting themNo more than 2 in any 30 daysWarning, then review.
Not arriving for an accepted job (no-show)NoneEvery no-show is reviewed.
Required documentsValid at all timesThe affected services are paused (clause 3.4).
Community and Safety GuidelinesFollowed at all timesReview; serious matters under clause 15.5.

15.2 Declining job offers or opting out of fixed-price services never counts against you. Ratings that we find to be retaliatory, abusive or caused by something outside your control (such as a platform error or a price set by us) are removed from your average.

15.3 If you fall below a standard, we first warn you, tell you which jobs and data we relied on, and give you 30 days to improve with our support.

15.4 If you still do not meet the standard, a person at Like Magic reviews your account. Before any deactivation, we tell you the reasons and the information we used, and you have 7 days to respond. We then decide in writing. You may appeal within 14 days to a senior person at Like Magic who was not involved in the decision.

15.5 We may suspend your account immediately, while we investigate, for serious matters such as violence, threats, sexual misconduct, theft, fraud, a safety risk, or losing a registration the law requires. We tell you the reasons within 2 business days and give you a chance to respond before we make a final decision.

15.6 Our systems calculate your ratings and flag possible issues automatically, but no deactivation is decided by a computer alone. You can ask us to explain how your ratings and standards are calculated.

16. Customers you meet through Like Magic

16.1 For 6 months after your last job with a customer you met through Like Magic, you must not offer or accept work from that customer outside the platform (directly, through your business or through another platform), and you must not ask them to pay outside the app.

16.2 This does not apply to a customer who you can show was already your customer before they booked you through Like Magic.

16.3 If you break clause 16.1, you must pay us the commission that would have applied to that work under clause 9, which we may set off against your payouts, and we may end this agreement.

16.4 This restriction protects our investment in finding and serving customers. It does not stop you working for anyone else or on any other platform.

17. Safety and incidents

17.1 You are responsible for health and safety on your jobs under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, for you and your staff, including the right protective equipment and safe working at height. Do only work you are registered and competent to do.

17.2 Report any incident (injury, damage, a threat, harassment or a safety concern) to us in the app within 24 hours, and immediately if someone is hurt or in danger. Cooperate with any investigation.

17.3 You may leave or refuse to start a job if you feel unsafe. Tell us straight away. This never counts against you.

18. Your profile, our brand and confidentiality

18.1 You allow us to show your name, business name, photo, profile, trade registration badges, ratings and reviews on the platform. We will use your photo or name in our advertising only with your separate consent, which you can withdraw.

18.2 The platform, our brand and our content belong to us. You may say that you are "available on Like Magic", but not use our logo in any other way without our written permission.

18.3 Keep our non-public information (such as our systems, prices before they are published and business plans) and customer information confidential, during and after this agreement.

19. Responsibility and limits

19.1 You are responsible for your work, your staff and subcontractors, the goods you supply, and any damage or injury they cause. To the extent the law allows, Like Magic takes no responsibility for these.

19.2 You indemnify us against claims by customers and other people, and against losses including reasonable legal costs, caused by your work, your goods, your staff, or your breach of this agreement or the law, except to the extent that we caused them.

19.3 Our total liability to you under this agreement is limited to the commission you paid us in the 6 months before the claim. We are not liable for your indirect loss, such as loss of profit. This limit does not apply to our gross negligence, fraud or intentional wrongdoing, or to payouts we owe you.

20. How long this agreement lasts and how it ends

20.1 This agreement continues until you or we end it.

20.2 You may end it at any time in the app or by email to providers@likemagic.co.za. Please finish or hand back jobs you have already accepted.

20.3 We may end it on 30 days written notice, or immediately for a serious breach, and we give you written reasons.

20.4 After it ends: we pay you what we owe you, less any amounts we may set off; your obligations under clauses 7, 13, 16, 18.3 and 19 continue; and we keep and delete your information as our Privacy Notice says.

21. Disputes and general terms

21.1 If you disagree with us, tell us in writing. People with authority on both sides will try to settle it within 20 business days.

21.2 If it is not settled, either of us may refer it to arbitration under the Arbitration Act 42 of 1965, in Durban, before a single arbitrator agreed between us or, if we cannot agree within 10 business days, appointed by an established South African arbitration body that we choose, under that body's rules. Either of us may still go to court for urgent relief.

21.3 South African law governs this agreement.

21.4 We may change this agreement on 30 days written notice. You may end the agreement before the change takes effect.

21.5 Our address for legal notices is 108 Workington Road, Greenwood Park, Durban, 4051. You may also send notices to providers@likemagic.co.za. We send notices to the email address in your account. Emails and in-app messages count as written notice.

21.6 If any clause is invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over the platform, with notice to you.
